Together, Planting A Forest.

Surrounded on all sides by mountains, Washington is home to beautiful and diverse ecosystems. Reforestation in Washington will help restore lands degraded by forest fires. Learn more

With your help, we will:

  • Restore areas affected by wildfires
  • Increase biodiversity to protect freshwater & soil
  • Improve the livelihood of local communities in Washington
  • With abundant precipitation and fertile soil, Washington has some of the most productive forests in the world. While Washington is surrounded by mountainous landscapes, half of the land area is also covered in forests of lush moss and leafy ferns. Planting trees in Washington will not only protect existing forests but also help to restore lands affected forest fires and overall land degradation. Trees planted in the project will help improve biodiversity, protect freshwater & soil, and impact surrounding communities.
  • Forest fires and deforestation have impacted forest cover throughout Washington, leaving soil exposed and causing habitat loss. Reforestation is an important way to restore the lands affected by these fires and land degradation. By planting trees, this project will also help protect existing forests by improving forest fire resilience. The trees planted in Washington will help improve biodiversity, reduce erosion, protect water & soil, and improve the livelihood of local communities.
  • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We’ll also send you reports on the Washington project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • In order to maximize the impact of your donation, we will determine the most appropriate species to plant, based on the time of year. Some of the species we will plant include the big leaf maple, Douglas fir, Western red cedar, black hawthorn, and much more!

About Washington

The state of Washington is home to an abundance of beautiful natural wonders. Though the state is almost solidly surrounded by mountains, half of the land area is covered in forests and other lush greenery. Nicknamed the Evergreen State, Washington's forests are filled with fir and pine, lush moss, and beautiful ferns. These beautiful landscapes are more at risk for wildfires as the snow melts earlier in spring, causing soils to remain dry and stay drier for much longer.

By planting trees in Washington, not only will lands be restored, but trees will also help increase forest resilience. Ecosystems across Washington will be improved as trees support biodiversity, clean air & water, and promote climate change resilience.

Why Plant Trees in Washington?

Reduce Impact of Forest Fires

Reduce Impact of Forest Fires

Since 2022, there have been four large forest fires across the state of Washington, leading to land degradation and other severe impacts. Help us prevent wildfires in the future by planting trees. Young, healthy forests can help suppress future wildfires and reduce the impact of smoke on public health.

Sequester Carbon and Stabilize Climate

Sequester Carbon and Stabilize Climate

Washington is known for their productive forests. By planting trees, there will be a large uptake of carbon from the atmosphere that is fixed in the biomass of the forests and the soil. This helps play a vital role in mitigating the effects of climate change and helps forest resilience.

Protect Habitat and Promote Biodiversity

Protect Habitat and Promote Biodiversity

Through reforestation and restoration of these vital lands, habitats will be created to help promote biodiversity and overall climate resilience. The trees planted in this project will help support diverse native species and species at risk across the state.
